This linoprint depicts the sculpture Vrede (“Peace”) on Radioweg in Amsterdam’s Watergraafsmeer — a place I passed every morning and afternoon on my way to school. On the way to school and toward peace: both hard to reach. I didn’t enjoy school much, just as peace is never easily won. Yet I cherish that path and the memory of the sculpture that remained unchanged — a quiet monument to endurance and hope.
