While searching for traces of the forgotten singer Lucienne Vernay, I wandered through the Paris district of Batignolles, where her voice once resonated. This painting captures the stillness of that place: a yellow façade in evening light facing its purple shadow, with the round lamp above me glowing in the fading blue. Light and colour echo her song Margoton — a neoromantic moment between past and present.
